Sense of Wonder

I began working on the Sense of Wonder series during the COVID-19 pandemic.

While in lockdown, I was reminded of one of my favorite books—The Sense of Wonder by Rachel Carson. Inspired by its message, new ideas started to flow, and I felt compelled to develop a series around this theme.

In my twenties, while working as a designer, I became deeply interested in environmental issues. As I worked on product development and packaging, I realized just how much impact design could have on the planet. Around that time, I was influenced by activists like Yvon Chouinard, Buckminster Fuller, and Douglas Tompkins, who showed how environmental stewardship and business could go hand in hand.

This awareness led me to start incorporating recycled materials into packaging—something that was still quite rare back then—and to make more eco-conscious choices in my daily life. It was also around this time that I came across The Sense of Wonder, a book that moved me deeply and continues to inspire me today.

This series is a tribute to Rachel Carson and a heartfelt expression of my love and respect for the Earth.
